Sugarcane Crop Stages (From Land Preparation to Harvesting)

Stages: 7

What to use, stage by stage

Stage 1: Land Preparation
Products to use
  • Deep ploughing and soil preparation.
  • FYM :Apply 8-10 tonnes of FYM /acre to enrich soil fertility
  • improve soil structure
  • provides essential plant nutrients
  • TSB-99 : Apply TSB-99( 1 kg/100L water) for pest control and biofungicide
  • Benefits of Trichoderma :For sugarcane
  • Trichoderma is especially valuable during land preparation and planting
  • as it helps protect young roots from soil-borne diseases and promotes vigorous root establishment.
  • Organic Carbon : Apply Organic Carbon (2-3 kg/acre) to improve soil fertility.
  • Nacro O2 : Improves oxygen availability in the root zone by slowly releasing oxygen.
  • Promotes healthy
  • white
  • active root growth.
Purpose

To improve carbon % and good soil health, resistance to diseases .

Stage 2: Seed Selection and Planting
Products to use
  • Select healthy
  • disease-free seed canes.
  • Use 2–3 bud setts for planting.
  • Plant at the recommended spacing and depth.
  • Irrigate immediately after planting.
Stage 3: Germination Stage
0–45 Days
Products to use
  • Seaweed :Improves root growth and shoot growth.Foliar spray: 250–500 ml/acre in 150–200 L of water.
  • Drip/fertigation (liquid): 500 ml–1 L/acre.
  • Humic acid:Improves soil structure and increases water-holding capacity.
  • Liquid Humic Acid (drip/soil): 500 ml–1 L/acre.
  • Foliar spray: 250–500 ml/acre in 150–200 L of water.
  • Granular/Powder Humic Acid: 2–4 kg/acre through soil application.
Purpose

Improve germination ,provides protection from storage insects.
Buds sprout and develop into young shoots.
Maintain adequate soil moisture.
Fill gaps where germination is poor.
Control early weeds.

Stage 4: Tillering Stage
45–120 Days
Products to use
  • VAM:Improves nutrient absorption by carrying nutrients into plant cells.
  • Fulvic acid:Improves nutrient absorption by carrying nutrients into plant cells.
  • Multiple shoots (tillers) emerge from the base.
  • Groster : Groster solution (1-2V100L water) for every 5-10days for growth.
Stage 5: Grand Growth / Cane Elongation Stage
120–270 Days
Products to use
  • 19:19:19: Apply 19:19:19 fertilizer (1-2 kg/acre) for balanced NPK.
  • 20:20:20 - 5 kg /acre
  • Nacro Shakthi : Apply Nacro Shakthi (1-2L/100L water) every 5-6days for balanced growth.
Purpose

Rapid stem elongation and biomass accumulation.
Ensure sufficient irrigation and nutrient supply.
Carry out trash mulching if needed.

Stage 6: Maturity Stage
270 Days to Harvest
Products to use
  • 00:52:34 : (1-2 kg/acre) for better pod size and yield.
  • Cane growth slows down.
  • Sugar accumulation increases.
  • Reduce irrigation before harvest to improve sugar recovery.
  • Monitor crop maturity.
Stage 7: Harvesting: Harvest the crop at full maturity.
Products to use
  • Cut canes close to the ground.
  • Remove dry leaves and tops.
  • Transport canes to the sugar mill as early as possible to minimize sugar loss.
  • This is the complete Sugarcane Crop Stage-wise Schedule from Land Preparation → Planting → Germination → Tillering → Grand Growth → Maturity → Harvesting.
