🌱 Stage-wise schedule
Sunflower
SUNFLOWER CROP SCHEDULE
Stages: 14
What to use, stage by stage
Stage 1: Land preparation — before sowing
Products to use
- Plough the field thoroughly and make the soil loose and well-aerated.
- Remove weeds and previous-crop residues.
- Incorporate well-decomposed organic manure/vermicompost into the soil.
- Vermicompost: 100–150 kg/acre as soil application.
- Nacro win :- soil application - 50 kg /acre
- Nacro 02 :- 1 kg / per acre
- Organic Carbon: 2–4 kg/acre as soil application.
- Mr. Soil:- 1litre / per acre
- it as a soil-health enhancer intended to improve microbial activity and soil fertility.
Stage 2: Seed treatment — before sowing
Products to use
- TSB 99 – Trichoderma viride 100 grm /per acre
- TSB 99 for seed treatment and soil application against soil-borne diseases including damping-off
- wilt
- root rot and related problems. The manufacturer listing gives 120 g/100 L water for its spray application; because that is not explicitly a sunflower seed-treatment rate
- use the seed-treatment dosage printed on your current TSB 99 label rather than converting this spray rate.
Stage 3: Sowing — Day 0
Products to use
- Use good-quality
- healthy sunflower seed.
- Maintain proper row-to-row and plant-to-plant spacing according to the sunflower variety and local recommendation.
- Ensure adequate soil moisture at sowing.
- Avoid waterlogging.
Stage 4: Early root establishment
approximately 10–15 DAS
Products to use
- Once seedlings establish
- concentrate on root development and nutrient uptake.
- Nacro Gold :- 1litre / 100 litres of water for spraying
- Nacro Gold as a herbal-based plant nutrient supporting stronger roots and plant health. Apply according to the current label dosage for sunflower.
- Mr. Crop :- 1 litre /100 litres of water /acre
- Mr. Crop is as an NPK biofertilizer enriched with beneficial microbes to support nutrient uptake. Apply according to the current label dosage.
Stage 5: Vegetative growth
approximately 20–25 DAS
Products to use
- At this stage
- the objective is vigorous leaf development
- strong roots and good plant establishment.
- Groster :-1Lit /100 litres of water for spraying
- Use Groster as a growth promoter according to the product label. Nacro describes Groster as supporting balanced vegetative and reproductive growth.
- Fulvic - 2 - 3 kgs /acre for soil application
- Shakthi :- 1 litre/acre for spraying
Stage 6: Weed and field management
approximately 20–35 DAS
Products to use
- Keep the field free from weeds
- especially during early crop growth.
- Do intercultivation/earthing-up where appropriate.
- Maintain uniform moisture.
- Avoid excessive irrigation because sunflower is sensitive to prolonged waterlogging.
Stage 7: Pest monitoring — throughout vegetative growth
Products to use
- Nacro-07 Neem Oil :- 1litre /acre
- Nacro-07 as neem oil for agricultural use. Use it according to the current product label and the pest being targeted.
- Nacro Raksha :- 1litre /acre 100 litres of water for spraying
- Nacro Raksha as a neem-leaf-extract product intended to protect crops from pests such as thrips and mites.
Stage 8: Bud initiation / pre-flowering
approximately 35–45 DAS
Products to use
- This is one of the most important stages in sunflower because healthy plants need sufficient nutrition before flowering.
- Groster — 1 litre /100 litres of water
- Nacro Gold — 1 litres/100 litres of water
- Fulvic — 2-3 kgs /acre
Stage 9: Flower initiation
approximately 45–55 DAS.
Products to use
- Flowering Stimulant / Mr. Nacro :- 100 litres of water / acre
- Shakthi :- 1litre / 100 litres of water /acre
Stage 10: Flowering and seed setting
approximately 55–65 DAS
Products to use
- Maintain adequate moisture during flowering and seed development.
- Seaweed gel :- 1-2 kgs / acre
- Seaweed Gel Extract as supporting photosynthesis
- flower development
- microbial activity
- stress tolerance and productivity
Stage 11: Seed filling / head development
approximately 65–80 DAS
Products to use
- At this stage:
- Maintain adequate soil moisture.
- Avoid excessive nitrogen application.
- Monitor the crop for sucking pests and diseases.
- Protect the sunflower head from pest damage.
- Avoid unnecessary foliar mixtures.
- Fulvic — 2-3 kgs /acre for soil application
- Seaweed- 2-3 kgs /acre for soil application
Stage 12: Disease management — whenever symptoms appear
Products to use
- Regularly inspect leaves
- stem and head for disease symptoms.
- TSB 99 – Trichoderma viride 100 grms /acre
- TSB 99 is listed by Nacro for soil-borne disease management
- including root rot
- wilt
- damping-off and related diseases. Do not automatically spray a disease-control product on a healthy crop. Correct identification of the disease is important.
Stage 13: Crop maturity
approximately 80–100+ DAS
Products to use
- Sunflower maturity depends strongly on variety
- season and growing conditions.
- At maturity:
- Leaves gradually turn yellow/brown.
- The back of the sunflower head changes colour.
- Seeds become well developed and firm.
- Reduce irrigation as the crop approaches physiological maturity
- while avoiding unnecessary stress.
Stage 14: Harvesting
Products to use
- Harvest when the sunflower heads and seeds have reached appropriate maturity and seed moisture is suitable for harvesting/storage.
- Cut mature heads carefully.
- Dry the heads/seeds properly.
- Clean the harvested seed.
- Store only well-dried seed in a clean
- dry place.
